This Chinese New Year is the year of the dragon so the writing focus is going to be on a character description of a Chinese Dragon. This resource explains the five different aspects of a character that pupils should describe in order to successfully convey their character to their reader. This writing resource works well along the RSPB Bird Watch which takes place this time of year. Whether children are actively bird watching outside or simply learning about birds around them, it is a great way to engage with nature. This lesson models for learners how to research four different birds and take notes in their jotter. It then demonstrates how to turn these short notes into engaging sentences for their reader.
